The Crosstown Rivalry 09'

These cats are insane, and I don't mean the teams.
I'm not even going to talk about the game itself, or the series of the Cubs Vs. Sox, cause no matter who has the better team, stats, managers or stadiums, they've always (of late at least) broke even. So it doesn't matter whose better, it's only a statement of opinion. I am however, going to talk about the fans of these two Chicago teams. First I have to explain my position on this matter, and it's probably the most hated position a baseball fan can take in Chicago. Can you guess what it is? Yup, I'm a certified CHICAGO fan, love them BOTH equally.
Now here I can already see everyone else saying that's treason, that's an abomination, this can't be, and then the next question becomes; What happens when they meet in the World Series? First off, what are the chances? Let's be reasonable here, it hasn't happen yet. When it becomes a reality though, the answer becomes as simple as this, the city will have already won, and the whole sport of Baseball will have the best rivalry put on it's main stage, in a series I guarantee, will NOT disappoint. What more can you ask for other than that? Besides all that, why can't I like them both? It's not like they're even competing head to head they have their own leagues and divisions to worry about. Only the rivals in their divisions is really the matter for the Cubs & Sox.
With that said about my position, let's look at the hardcore fans themselves. Forget the score, forget the series, for as of right now, it is still incomplete, hell even forget that it's baseball. Look at the fans who linger in the stands. They can be the greatest fans, Chicago sport teams sole deserve. The fans never give up, they never walk away. The fans cheer and cheer until the last pitch is thrown or the umpire makes the final call. While the fans of the losers still cheer even if they're still upset, even if their team doesn't put up their best effort, the fans still have faith. And to me that's what gritty about Chicago, it's people.
Hardcore people of Chicago show their true self through the love of their team. It's not just in Baseball, or just sports alone, the people of Chicago share a pride for everything the city of Chicago is all about. Our food, our knowledge, our intentions are what makes Chicago people the best of everything the world has to offer. I think to truly understand what I'm talking about, You have to be born & raise in the city or suburbs of Chicago.
And I love everyone who totally knows where I'm coming form.
